Description
A low threshold is not more than 20mm high. It is a good and practical solution for getting wheelchairs and kids’ buggies or prams in or out of the building. It is also helpful for all the people with mobility problems – it prevents them from tripping over the door threshold when entering the front door or back door.
In case of a low threshold, the bottom piece of frame is reduced in order to lower the step into the building. This option is available with the majority of external doors, including tilt and turn, folding, sliding, and tilt and slide doors. The use of a low threshold should be planned already at the design stage so that the selection of the floor is adapted to its installation. One should also take into account the slope of the floor outside the window so that water does not accumulate in the area around the window.
